US Police Check question

Just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this. I submitted a request for a US FBI police check in February and didn't hear anything for eight weeks, at which point I received a mailed request for a new set of fingerprints because the other ones weren't high enough quality. I resubmitted fingerprints at the end of April and haven't heard anything since.

I'm at that eight-week mark again, so fingers crossed the police check will be safely in my mailbox on Monday or something. I guess my question is, is there any way to contact the people processing the police checks to enquire about processing times? I know DIAC lists that US police checks usually take eight weeks. It's just been a frustrating four months of sitting around knowing nothing other than the form got there okay. It's also been four months of knowing that there's absolutely no way my 820 application will be approved until this comes through--especially since I know the form is just going to say "no criminal record!" Had to submit the application back in March without the checks because my WHV was going to expire.

Secondary question: if the fingerprints I submitted this time are also declined, is there a way of prioritizing my police check application to make the processing faster? And, I suppose, where would you recommend I get fingerprints done in Australia? (Probably sounds like a stupid question--the last two have been at a police stations... just not a lot of faith after the first one was declined!)

Any information you have would be helpful. I haven't been able to find anything online!
