Unhappy DV and citizenship

Very concerned about the new citizenship rules and domestic violonce. I was granted permenant residency last october, and was looking forward to becoming a citizen and making my application this october, but now it might have to wait, but has anyone looked into the domestic violence section of the rules? I have a domestic violence charge from 20 years ago, never assaulted my partner we just got into a screaming match when i was 19 and although i was granted permenant residency and it was considered a spent conviction,is it also considered spent when it comes to citizenship? So not happy with these new rules!

As far as immigration is concerned, convictions are never spent.

May I suggest that you consult a registered migration agent for an assessment of your case?

As I posted previously, convictions are NEVER spent for immigration or citizenship character assessments.

If your antecedents bring you within the ambit Section 501 (the character provisions) you would be so informed and advised about your possible courses of action.

From what has been posted, my best guess, based on partial information, is that you should be OK, but that is not a considered professional opinion and could be wrong.
