help needed

Hi all,
I am new to this site and would really appreciate your advice about state sponsorship from queensland.

I have got my qualification assessment done by vet assess as positive and i am looking forward to apply for state sponsorship.I have got doctorate degree which is also assessed as equal to the australian doctoral degree.Ielts 7.0 overall and individually.Total 55 points with SS.60 with SS(if
nominated)What are the chances of getting SS.Also queensland ask for evidence of sufficient funds any idea how much is sufficient .Secondly how can we prove our commitment to live and work in queensland? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Brizi

Hi Brizi

State sponsorship is driven from the state's list of skill shortage areas I believe. I had applied for Victoria state sponsorship since the 190 visa processing time frame is faster compared to 189. I had stated that I have funds of $30000 since I would be arriving there along with my spouse. I got the Victorian state sponsorship in about 12 weeks.

Cheers
Ganesh

Regarding your commitment to stay in the state, I have seen various different answers in several different forums. I was on a 457 work visa and I work in Sydney and then I got my 190 visa recently. The letter from Victoria Stated that I have to keep the Victorian Govt informed when I move there. I definitely intend to honour my commitment to the state by working there for atleast two years, but considering I am still on a job contract, I can't move out of Sydney for the next 6 months. So I will be moving Victoria after tht period.

Most of the forums state that commitment is only a gentleman's agreement and there are not consequences with DIAC if it can't be met due to a valid reason such as not being able to find a job with sufficient proof.

Cheers
Ganesh

Hey Ganesh,

Do we need to submit the evidence of funds at the time of applying for state nomination? and do we need to transfer these funds before arriving in Victoria (if our application is processed).

What if there is a change in available funds. I mean you showed 30000 but when they ask you to show the proof or transfer the funds but at that time you dont have 30000 (lets say you only have 25000) then what?

Hi Eddy

I was never requested to show any documented proof of funds by Victoria. I am not sure if they usually do so. I believe every state has a different policy on this.

Hi Ganesh,

But they will later on. My consultant told me that initially they dont ask for any proof, but at later stage they will ask you to transfer the funds.

Hi Eddy

I did show proof of funds and income to DIAC when applying for the 190 visa. However I have not shown any proof to the Victorian Govt and they haven't requested anything yet.
