Wink 485 visa insurance

Hi there,

I've just prepared my application for 485 visa.
And I'm in trouble with interpreting the insurance requirement.
On DIAC site, it says that we have to provide the evidence that we have an adequate private health insurance for the period that we would stay in Australia. That means we have some insurance covered for 18 month for working stream.

The question is when we get private insurance, do we have to pay for 18 month contract at once or we just get contract with insurance companies and paid monthly?

Cheers

I think you can choose to pay a lump sum upfront or monthly repayment. It depends on your insurance provider though.

Thank you GBP. I'll visit some insurance provider to ask as to whether I can pay monthly or not.

Cheers

Hi Sean,

I wonder how your enquiry went.

I'm also applying for the same visa at the end of this year so it would be helpful to me and to everyone else who has got similar question.

Thank you

Cheers

Hi All -

For the 485 visa you need to provide proof of adequate insurance at the time of application, and the visa is issued with a condition that requires you to maintain that insurance for the duration of the time you are in Australia under that visa. The good news is that you do not need to prepay the 18 months worth (like you do with student visas, etc) unless you choose to.

Best,

Mark Northam

Hi there,

Try this table I made myself and just recently updated:
485 Visa Health Insurance Comparison

Its specific health insurance you will need for your 485 visa so don't get caught in the trap of getting a non DIAC approved polices.
