Question Help needed in 175

Hello all. I have few questions that has to be solved before applying to Australian PR.Please help.

1. I have 2 degrees .I am currently doing Phd in ozone related projects .so my main degree is a Masterís degree in hydrometeorology .My other is 2-year Diploma,
Translating for Professional Communication Programme (German),
As interpreter get 60 points and as a research scientist i get only 50 points so my question is can i apply for PR as interpreter rather than research scientist ?

2.I have 5 months work experience as a interpreter and 7months as research scientist .so will my total experience add up to 1yr or the 12 months experience should be in the occupation that I mentioned in the application?

3. My wife is a anaesthesiologist preparing for amc .will she be able to contribute to 5 spouse points before completing amc ?
4. is a PR sure shot if i pass the 120 points test ?
Thanks in advance for your valuable contribution.

Oh Shankie,
Just like a golf shank can be so complex as not able to be deliberately repeated if you try, you certainly do want to weave a complex web!

Sounds like you have read some of the immi site stuff and
Skilled – Independent (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 175)
spells out recent experience as you may have no doubt read as -

To meet the recent work experience requirement, you must demonstrate that you have been employed:

. in an occupation listed on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL)

What you are asking is whether 'an' would be taken to be two occupations so as to accumulate 12 mths. rec. exp.

It's the sort of question that needs to be put to immi and under the GSM visas they have email addresses.

Re applying as an interpreter, of course you would want to check that your
2Y Diploma would make you eligible and look up the appropriate organisation on SOL and make contact for that.

Re the wife as an anaesthesiologist, no great medical expert but pretty sure here in Australia that is a specialist field to be undertaken after initial medical training and if anything like that in country you're in, your wife may even already qualify as a medico - there being a special section for doctors under GSM and may pay you to investigate that area.

Edit Also suggest that you have a read of sticky thread #4 re processing priorities and I'd suspect it may be quicker for you to do an application in the wifes name or at least try to get a 176 visa up with a state nomination.
