Advise regarding subclass 189

Good morning all,

I'm a US citizenship (28 years old). I have a bachelors degree from a Australian recognized US institution.

I wondering about enrolling at a community college in order to obtain a certification in either carpentry or plumming as I would like to apply for a sub class visa 189.

Will this certification be enough evidence (given that both professions happen to be in the current SOL) to allow me to apply for this specific visa. In addition, at the moment I have 60 skill select points.
Sorry for the mistake in the subject line!!!!

Thanks for all your help.

Hi Cleverodra -

Difficult to say from what you posted - where are you getting your 60 points from? Keep in mind that the work experience you claim for points must be closely related to the occupation you apply under. And the skills assessment process for trades often requires a minimum amount of work experience - if you're just now being trained in a new trade, not sure how you would satisfy any work experience requirements, plus you could only count work in that trade for points for the visa. Can you elaborate on how you would plan on getting 60 points if you completed the trade training?
