did you guys use migration agent? some ppl said it will be easier to have an agent handling the papers to DIAC if you have a police file

It definitly helps. We used an agent. As a rule of thumb though if you pass the character requirements you can get away with doing the application yourself. If you're curious as to what is a pass or fail check the character requirements on the immi website.

i'm pretty sure i have a file with the police… perhaps i should get a copy of my record from AFP and show it to the agent and see what they think.
are you on 457?

No my husband is here on a tourist visa applying for subclass 100 partner visa.
