Carry on Baggage Leaving Australia

Hi All

Thought I would just mention that I heard on the radio that airlines are starting to clamp down on people's carry on baggage leaving Australia. The radio said that it will be women that are mainly affected - those that have their carry on bag and a hand bag as you are only allowed 1 carry on bag and if you have a hand bag that is 2 items.

The radio also said that they may even start weighing the carry on bags too.

With alot of travelling out of the country it is something we need to keep in mind.

I just flew out of Brisbane with emirates. They were strict with the weight of my carry on luggage but didn't say a word about my handbag and laptop bag. Did get charged excess on my overweight luggage but lucky they let me go on line and pay for it which was mich cheaper

Hi All -

Australian airlines routinely weigh carry-on bags - big overweight charges, etc. Best to check your specific airline for rules as they tend to vary widely among the different airlines.

Best,

Mark Northam
