Prospective marriage visa subclass 300

Hey there!
I have just sent my visa applicattion. I am form Argetina, applying from a Prospective Marriage Visa. The Embassy in Argentina does not process this kind of visas so I had to post it to the Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil.
They have recieved the post, yesterday, thatīs what i could see in the DHL tracking service.
I was wondering if anyone has some kind of experience withthe Embassy in Brasilia and how many days do the usually take before giving you a notice saying they recieved tha application and address me a CO.
When should I contact them in case they donīt contact me?

Cheers for that and Iīm sorry for being so anxious!!
JO

Don't know that we've had anybody at all from Argentina doing an application through Brazil but that kind of thing happens with different countries in Europe too, so not totally unusual.

It'll just depend on what sort of workload the immi officers in Brazil have and they would then do an initial check of your application to review what documentation you have sent, see if there is anything more to be provided etc., perhaps make contact with your proposed partner as well before contacting you and that could take from anywhere like several weeks to more than a month.

In the meantime you may initially just receive an acknowledgement of your application having been received and there is probably not much to be achieved by making contact yourself.

Hey there, thanks for that!
A few days ago I got a ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RECEIPT OF APPLICATION AND REQUEST FOR FURTHER INFORMATION :
1- HIV test which I didnīt attach to the health requirements i sent when i first lodged the application.
2- Statutory or notarized declarations from at least two of your family members attesting to their awareness of genuine nature of the relationship. We hhave lodged the application with 3 stat decs from my boyfriendīs friends and family memebrs, but stat decs from my family were not required, so we didnīt attach them. We did send e mails between my parents and Sam and them and his parents. So now my parents and my brother wrote a declaration and will post them soon.
In the post answering me you said they were going to contact my boyfriend before they contact me. Is that the normal thing to do? are interviews pre arreanged or they just surprise you? it is obviously going to be on the phone coz I live in Argentina.

So hopefully it is all going good, fingers crossed!

Thanks!
JO

Jo,
If it was I submitting an application [like it's your application and Bf is the sponsor in all this] I would have included statutory declarations from my family even if it had not been specifically asked for but now it has and you've covered that.

When it comes to a partner type visa they're a bit less black and white than the general skilled migration type which are based on points for this and that, so there'll be possibility of variations depending on countries and just the different immigration staff posted to those countries handling applications, so normallity is less definable - and I did say 'perhaps make contact", not a definite yes, but just indicative that they'll have various checks they'll want to make.

We've had one poster here on the forum somewhere in Africa from memory who asked about the prospect of having to make a longish trip - can't say as I recall any further posting but I'll see if I can find it and see if there's anything on what eventuated, but either way I'd think they'll contact you either by letter or email re what's to be involved in respect to an interview.

Sounds like the application is on track though, eg. they've had their initial look and asked for more info, that being typical of what can happen.

cheers! for that

Hey wanderer! I was assuming that processes were really personal, particular and different one from the other one, thatīs why I was asking if that was a normal thing to do, since I thought there ewere not usual steps.
But any way, thanks a lot for your answer, I can see you are always up to answer anything, and so quickly!
It will be good to find people which have gone trhough the same in the Brazilian Embassy, but I know itīs hard to!!!

Cheers!!!
Jo
