Relationship timeline. Need advice please

Hi,

So me and my partner are applying for the 820 visa. We have got alot of evidence together and are just adding more and more. We have done a relationship timeline on powerpoint which shows our whole relationship together and shows alot of evidence like:

Periods of Seperation and how we kept in contact
Significant events in the relationship
Joint Activities
How the relationship developed
How and where we first met
Going out together, friends and acquaintances in common
Proof of joint travel
Letters and phone bills/ records that show you have been in contact when apart.

This evidence is all backed up with photos and screenshots of calls, messages and tickets.

Im just wondering if this a good idea and want a second opinion just incase as this file will probably be 10-15mb and will have to be split into 3 uploads.

Also this isnt our only evidence this is just our evidence for those points ive listed. We have evidence for all of the other points on the checklist just not as a timeline.

Thanks,
Cameron

Seems a very large file!

Periods of Seperation and how we kept in contact

*1 page of sep dates and 1 page of explain how like Skype/sms/phone calls.

or is this whole conversations?

Significant events in the relationship

* I had 5 kids and 2 wives - I can fill 2 pages if I try hard.

Joint Activities

* not many pages here.

How the relationship developed

* ok 3-4 pages but some do 1 page.

How and where we first met

* We met online on Elainxxxx web site on 31 December 2119.

Going out together, friends and acquaintances in common

* 4 or 5 pages with several photos a page 3-6 and type in the explaination for each photo below or in the photo.

Proof of joint travel

* still just a few pages even with scanned boarding passes.

Letters and phone bills/ records that show you have been in contact when apart.

* think this was number 1 on your list.

Your Case Officer is only given about 5 hours to process your entire application - keep it simple but to the point.

Hi Ampk,

Yes it is a large file but as you have said you have listed each point as a different file, instead we have put this all into one power point as a timeline to make it easier for the case officer so they can understand the progression of our relationship together. Each slide is very simple just a few bullet points explaining the slide and gives as much evidence as possible to show we are in a genuine relationship

So first and 2nd slide is photos and explains how we met and the first month of our relationship.

3rd slide is evidence of joint travel to where we met and travel together after we met.

from then on slides explaining periods of separation and proof that we have remained in contact.

there are also slides with evidence during periods we were together

slides showing significant events in our relationship

slides showing evidence of social activities and joint friends.

overall there will be about 32 slides covering all of this which includes evidence and explanations and is very simple and set out easily and shows all of these points. It would only take 30mins to get through this powerpoint.

Is this to much? should we simplify it to maybe

2 slides for joint travel
2 slides for periods of seperation
2 slides for how we met
2 slides joint activites
2 slides significant events

1st slide of each point could be explanation of the point and the 2nd slide evidence?

Thanks,
Cameron

I personally think the second option would be better - the Case Officer needs to tick boxes.

For the case officer to use the same reference document for all categories as proof to the issuing officer to grant the visa will seem strange.

Ok thank you for the advice.

Simplify simplify simplify.

Remember you need to meet set criteria for a visa. You need to show you meet that criteria, don't think too much into giving a presentation of everything additional unless you actually need to. Give them what they ask for, in the format and sizes they ask for, if they need further info they will ask for more.

Think about the amount of info that's actually in the slides, it's probably image rich not evidence rich. Remember they don't need your photo catalogue.

A written timeline could be achieved on an single MS word page and avoids having to flick back and forth between 30+ slides to get the information they need.

Hi Mania,

What is the main format they want? Word documents?

Its actually image rich and evidence rich, it has photos of us, also has a alot of joint travel images (scans and photos of boarding tickets, flights booked) it also has alot of chat and call/history screenshots to show our periods of separation.

How should i set this points out?

1. Should I do a written timeline for periods of separation and then evidence on the next page of a few screenshots of messages and calls? im not really sure how thorough they want us to be with the evidence as the timeline that we have created shows pretty much every month of our relationship.

2. Joint travel - just a word document of a written timeline with evidence on the next page again.

3. Significant events in the relationship - same again with a written timeline with evidence on the next page again.

4. Joint activities - Just a list of activities we do on a word document and evidence like photos of us doing those activities together on the next
page.

5. How and when we first met - Brief explanation on word doc on how we first met and then evidence like flight tickets and photos of us showing travel to the place we met on the next page.

Would this be a better and simpler way?

Thanks,
Cameron

I did photo and timeline in a 3-4 page pdf using MS Publisher as a magazine style layout... could be read in a few minutes. 1-4 pics per page and short paragraphs describing how we met, development of relationship, family and friends, etc. I uploaded evidences (flight tickets, hotels, etc) separate in the appropriate categories for them to see (So a file named "Family holidays 2016" and put flights, hotels, tickets from things we did on holiday, etc all in one file. A "shared finances" file would have the first page of our rental lease, joint bank accounts, joint mobile phone bill, joint car insurance, and so on all in one.) This makes it easy to tick the appropriate categories as a CO going through your file and being able to easily find those items again if needed.

I wouldn't recommend combining all of the evidences from different evidence categories into one file. The photo and written timeline could be one but hard evidence like chat logs, joint finance, proof of traveling together, etc should go in their own files.
