Hi guys, I'm new to the forum so let me introduce myself briefly, I am a 38 year old mechanic currently working in the v8 supercar championship, I moved to Melbourne from the uk in January this year, I'm currently awaiting I migrations answer on the transfer of my 457 visa which is now in its 6th week of processing, does anyone out there know the timeframe of the transfer process and the fact neither me or the new employer have heard anything regarding the application.
We're seeing processing time of 2 months and longer on 457's currently due to the huge number of applications lodged in June prior to the 1 July 457 changes. Used to be 2 weeks, now 2 months - great!
Many thanks Mark, I must admit I am getting a bit stressed with it all, the job and title are exactly the same as I am doing now I just can't understand why it takes so long, can you shed any light on the subject, I find it a bit strange that the new employer hasn't even heard anything, spoke to three different people at immigration and have had three different timescales, I am one very frustrated person !!!
hii
i just changed my employer
i submit sponsorship and nomination on 14 June 2013 & sponsorship approved on 1 Aug and Nomination on 9 Aug. i already have 457 visa so no Visa file
Hi guys, still waiting on my transfer coming through, application submitted on 10th July 2013 with melbourne office, still no answer, first it was 2wks then 6 weeks then 12 weeks now 22 weeks. What is going on ?????
Hi mark, no nothing from case officer, the company I am moving to done the application for transfer of my 457 from my current employerr so I can't get any answers out of immigration and the company won't push immigration for any answers, I'm helpless immigration just keep moving the goalposts, all the application was done by the HR dept and the company has people on 457s at the minute so I don't know what the hold up can be ???
Probably too many visa applications and not enough workers to process them. Was the new nomination (that your visa application will fill) approved already, or is that what you are waiting on? Also, are you changing occupations or keeping the same ANZSCO occupation code as your visa has now?
No nomination not approved yet, job title and job exactly the same mate, no difference to what I'm doing now, it's just so frustrating having to wait this is the 13th week it's been going on?
Sounds like it's time to keep waiting. We had one that apparently was "forgotten" - was lodged at the end of June and we hadn't heard anything since 14 July. I emailed the case officer this past week to see if they needed anything, and the next day the visa was granted - I can only assume we were somehow forgotten about. If you or your employer have not inquired in the last 30 days about whether you can provide any further documents, might be worth it.
Thanks for the advice mark, I appreciate it, is there anyway I can get any answers out of immigration even when I have not done the nomination application ?
Probably not - the nomination is applied for by the business, not you, so they (and their agent) would be the only parties who would have a right to that information, Sorry, wish I had a better answer for you!
Best,
Mark Northam
