From 457 to De facto spouse visa

Does it make a difference on which visa you are on when you are applying for the de facto spouse visa? I heard somewhere that you can't apply for the de facto spouse when you are on the 457. Is that true?

I've never heard anything like that reko and about the only thing that can stop you applying for another visa is where an existing visa may have what is called the "no further stay" condition applied to it.

Highly unlikely that such a condition would be put on a 457 as the regulations do allow for a 457 to be considered as one way of getting PR through further employer sponsorship.
