Red face Submitting forms early

Hi, My partner and I have been together for a little under four years and we will be married in September. I am wondering if it would be wisest to start applying for our spouse visa now and complete all of the health checks, police checks, and other required forms now and submit them so the process can begin so that all we have to do in September is send in our marriage information. If we do that I am hoping that I will be more likely to be able to return to Aus with him (from the usa) at the end of October because most of the process will already be completed. Am I incorrect in my thinking? Thanks in advance for your advice!!!
