Application submitted in Turkey

Hello fellow forum members!

Just thought I would update what happened with our visa so far as it may help future applicants from Turkey.

We submitted for our spouse visa and received a reply within the week saying they are sending the medical report forms and other info BUT they also required these further documents:

1) Marriage Book - DO NOT send the international marraige certificate that you are given, this is not accepted! They require a certified copy and translation of the red marriage book.

2) His family certificate. Although it says on the website 'nufus kayit' which we sent, they require the one that has his whole family on it, not just my husband. We are yet to find out what this is but when we do I will let you know.

3) Certificate from the Births, Deaths and Marriages in Victoria that says I am not married to anyone else in Australia. This makes no sense to us as we had to get this form from the embassy in Ankara to get married here in the first place. So not sure if i have to apply for this again from here or in victoria or whether i can get the original back from the person who married us???

Hope this helps furture Turkish applicants

The fun of translations in all ways eh sb!

With the nufus bit, if that does not translate into the family certificate that they're asking for - [and strange that for whilst there is provision on the form for listing family members and I can't remember whether it says you have to provide a birth certificate [translated for all], a family certificate! for don't know if that even exists back home here and if so, I've never seen one for our family.] maybe you can do a service for all including immi in just politely letting them know [once the visa is done] that they need to do something with the wording and likewise with the little red book!, again something that doesn't exist in Oz to my knowledge or lets say I can't remember ever getting one.

With the certificate or statement you got re not being married to get married, didn't even know that is what a consulate would do for you and I wouldn't be surprised if they had made you get it yourself.
But yeah, once you had it, as far as the immi officer would be concerned, your application is something different, and sounds a good idea to see if you can get it back or even get a copy, borrow the original to get copy certified.

Good luck.
