You're welcome.

If in doubt, take a look at the form I linked on page one, it's got all the information there (the wording can sometimes be confusing though).

Just make sure you stay put now for the next 7 months and you'll be alright

Best of luck!

hi guys, question 17 in Citizenship
Do you hold or have you ever held citizenship of any other country?
So the only one passport I have is from my oryginal country, do I put tose details there? If so ...there is date start and end hmmmm well no end till I get Citizenship here and I will give up on mine
Or maybe this question is for other citizenships held but NOT the one your are from oryginaly. Is that makes sense?? thanks

If it says ANY country then yes you have to list your home country.

Citizenship isn't your passport details. The start date would be when you became a citizen so if you were born there then your citizenship began when you were born and end date, can you put CURRENT? or N/A as it's still on going.

Many people have dual citizenship so not everyone would have an end date even after they get granted their new citizenship

Q17 gives two boxes to tick, to show either current or previous citizenship, and then asks for dates.

For your current citizenship, tick the current box, and enter the start date (presumably your birth date). Leave the End date blank.

Your current passport details go in Q20.

Citizenship eligilibity

Hi guys,

I have a question regarding my husbandís eligibility for citizenship and hope someone can help. He has been in Australia for more than ten years. The most recent visas he had were student visa from 03/09/2012 to 11/06/2014, dependent in business visa from 20/12/2013 to 29/12/2017, and PR since 19/12/2014. Due to overseas travel, we couldnít apply for citizenship for him until 19/10 this year (13/10 was the eligible date according to DIBP residence calculator before it was taken down due to the citizenship bill). But when we tried to apply online, we always got stuck at page 6 like some other members. So we sent paper application.

However today my husband called DIBP and surprisingly they said his 4 years span only counted since 20/12/2013 which is the business visa, whereas they should have counted the student visa he got before that as well. We asked why the student visa wasnít counted and the lady there just simply said she didnít know, the system just showed that the beginning date for 4 years period was 20/12/2013, so my husband has to wait until 20/12/2017 to apply.

Does anyone have any idea what is wrong here? Any thoughts would be much appreciated, as it is very frustrating for us to wait for another 2 months especially when the government is about to introduce another bill.
