ETA sc 601 extension

Hi all, i have some question hope that you all can give me some advice

i am currently on ETA 601 visa which have 12 month validity and up to 3 month per stay, i am currently travel in Australia and will reach 3 month on next week 22th September 2017.

I think 3 month is too short so i am thinking to extend my stay 1 more month till November 2017, i have search online and found out Tourist visa sc600 is my only choice.

My question is

1. Is it too late for me to apply for extension as i heard that the new visa application must be 2 week before my current visa reach maximum stay?

2. Will i be granted a Bridging Visa after i submit the application, and does the Bridging visa give me another 28 days to leave Australia if the application is rejected?

3. The application fees is around AUD340 right? do i only need to pay the fees if my extension is approve, or i will need to pay the fees regardless the application fail or success.

4. Do i need to do medical check up for extension?

any advice is deeply appreciated

thank you

You're on an ETA, which is multiple entry. Why not leave Australia then come back in to reset the visa?

You wont need a medical check up.

I am not sure of the onshore application fee/s but they are not refunded if you "fail"

A refusal is a possibility without out a Bridging Visa.

I am not sure but the decision may not be appealable at the Tribunal, but if it is it is expensive and if you are successful there only half the Tribunal fee is refunded.

* Remember you knew about the 3 month stay on the ETA and DIBP can say you had the option before the ETA application to apply for a 6 month Visitor Visa then. Also your late application is from your bad planning and DIBP do not have to process your application within 5 working days just because your current visa is about to expire.

So in short it is a risk to apply so late for a SC600.

because it will cost a lot more with air ticket, and i want to avoid the hassle of getting rejected from entering Australia as i heard that Border Force will ask a lot of question of why come back Australia so early

Hi @ampk have you applied extension or any of your friend apply before? because i receive different advice mention that bridging visa will be granted right after the application submission and there is no problem to submit even last few days of expiry
