AFP Background Check for Sponsor

Back in June I completed an AFP check for myself.

Day I sent it in I received this in an email:
Thank you for submitting your National Police Check (NPC) application (Ref No: XXXXXXXXX). You will be advised when your NPC has been completed.

A receipt for your payment is attached.

A day later, I receive an update by email:
We are pleased to confirm that your National Police Check (NPC) has been completed and your certificate will be dispatched the next business day via Australia Post service to your nominated mailing address.

Please note that current postage times are 3-7 working days within Australia and 10-20 working days for international post.

We did not complete one immediately for my spouse/sponsor because we were not completely sure we needed one, plus we figured they would ask for one if so.
I dug around a little and discovered that having children, it's a no-brainer and one will be required.
I applied November 5th and received the first email.
We are still waiting on the next one like I received and it's been 2 weeks!

It makes zero sense worrying - my spouse has been home for a few weeks at most in more than 12 years

What gives? Is there a delay in processing them at the AFP central location for dispatching background checks?

I applied a few weeks ago and it said standard processing can take up to 15 business days. After that's passed give them a call I guess.
