888 forms and 820 visa

Hi,

I have a painful experience of preparing the materials for my partner's 820 visa.
I myself is an immigrant too, so my parent are not PR/citizens. And it is such a painful experience of asking my friends to find a JP and certify 888 forms for me. Even worse, I have to ask my friends to give color scan of their IDs to me, and it seems to violate their privacy.

Do they have to give their IDs number to me? Are there any ways to prevent me from seeing their IDs?

Thanks

If your friends are Australian citizens or PR and living in Australia they don't need to find a JP to certify form 888's - any pharmacist is authorised to witness them (along with a whole host of other authorised occupations, listed on the form).

Yes they will need to provide a scan of their ID with the completed form 888 - all of which you'll have to upload to your 820 application. No way around that I'm afraid, unless you want to give them your immiaccount login details and have them upload the form and ID scan themselves. I wouldn't recommend that, as you can't see what they have uploaded and verify that it's a clear scan, and nothing is missing. Also they would have access to your private information then too.

Like already said, there is a huge list of people who can certify a Form 888 listed on the first page of the form. It really shouldn't be an inconvenience at all as more likely than not, we all run into, talk to, know, or pass by at least one person in those occupations each day.

There's no excuse to not get it done if you want a partner visa. Two F888s are required.

If they have an issue with supplying a copy of their passport, try asking someone else. Your partner I'm assuming is the sponsor and is an Australian citizen or PR? Surely they know two people that know of your relationship and are willing to write a statement on it.
