Unhappy 457 sponsor transfer

Hi All,

I been offered a better job position with a different company so I got told to just apply for a nomination from the new company to transfer my current 457 visa.

on the 457 requirements it says in order to transfer sponsorship a nomination must be lodged for the same skill my visa was approved in the first place, the problem is the skill I was previous approved is no longer in the skill list, so do I need to change my skill because of this??

Please help, I cant find this information anywhere.

Can I still apply for the transfer for the same skill even if is no longer on the list??

Your not applying for a fresh visa. You're changing sponsors. You just need to ensure that you continue to maintain all conditions of the visa. Just remember changers are coming and this process may not last for ever.

Why not ask the new sponsor to engage a MARA registered migration agent to do this for them that way it gurentees them and yourself a proffesional outcome?

Thank you for you response, so you are saying I don't need to change my skill? so transferring the visa doesn't require changing the skill?

Sorry you are correct, but they do have a full team on this and I have my own agent but they seem to think the nomination for the transfer has to be in the current skill list. that's why I am so confused, because I am not changing my skill I am only changing the sponsor.

If a MARA registered migration agent has told you otherwise then their advice is much more educated then mine and I would disregard what I've said and go with the professional advice you have paid for.

If you are looking for a second proffesional opinion then I would strongly suggest you contact a MARA agent to get it as laymen like most of us here aren't going to be able to discuss the intracacys of an educated opinion of a Migration Agent, I'm happy to give you a list of reputable ones if you want.

Having said all that - I was of the impression transferring sponsors is just that, a transfer. As you aren't applying for a new visa then you don't need to do anything but match the current obligations of the visa you are already on, including working within the nominated occupation.
