ITA waiting times

Hi Myself wife and 2 kids lodged our EOI in July we have only managed 60 points with my wife's Nursung qualifications and a Superior score in the IELTS exam. We have looked at all other ways of increasing our points but 60 is all we can achieve. We were told at the time of lodging our EOI that we would probably receive our ITA in 2-3 months but looking at the information being post on the official Government site I am starting to think we probably wont get one as they only seem to be sending ITA's to people with 70 points or more. The waiting is not a problem the not knowing if we will ever get to the stage of receiving an ITA.
Maybe the next step should be to look at state sponsorship whilst leaving the EOI in?
