You'll have to ask the Washington embassy that. Five months in, no word yet. Others have been waiting longer, of course, but I'm about to go stir crazy waiting to know if we'll be rejected on medical grounds or not.

I don't think they would have any idea that your visa is expiring soon unless you give them a call to tell them and ask them to expedite the grant of BV. Just my thought.

It is better to lodge as soon as you are ready and not wait till the last minute. Bear in mind, you cannot submit in person at the office now and you need to mail or courier your application. If there is a delay or the mail got lost, then you are in more trouble.

Since now you can't lodge your 820 application in person it could be wise to send it even more than 10days before expiry date.

i didn't know they didn't allow submissions in person anymore! that was what i was planning to do. i thought they preferred courier/post but that you could still submit at the office if you wanted to
