Question Hitting Submit This Weekend. Still have some questions.

My fiancee and I will be applying for our s/c 309/100 visa this weekend. After months and months of gathering, organizing and stressing over evidence, we feel as if we finally have a solid application and are ready to submit.

We even did a 'dry run' on the immi website of the actual application. We are as confident as we can be when making a decision this big, this costly and life changing.

However, we (mostly me) still have a few lingering questions about it. I won't post another checklist (god knows I've done that enough times) but the areas of concern are as follows. If anyone can give some advice or tell us what you did or think, that would be greatly appreciated.

Form 888 - Thank god for this place, otherwise we would have submitted our Queensland state stat decs in place of form 888. However, after reading the actual form more thoroughly (which I should have done in the first place) I noticed this:

Quote:
You may use this form, or alternatively, you may use the statutory declaration template, which is available on the Attorney-General’s Department website at www.ag.gov.au
So, we can use the statutory declarations we've got from our family and friends in Australia. However, we didn't ask them to make color copies of their passports and have them witnessed and verified.

My question is this - is it worth just having the color scans witnessed and verified and added to the current stat decs we have (the dates of the decs and passports won't be the same), or should we have them just redo the original stat dec and take a copy of their passport to be signed off on as well? This way the dates all match up.

We've recently become engaged - We are going to notify the department of this in our application. We are engaged, but obviously not applying for a PMV s/c 300 visa. Is it safe to just include this in the history and development of our relationship as well as our mutual commitment to each other?

My other area of concern is the statements we've included in most evidence groups. After reading them over and over, I can't help but feel they're almost too formal. We've written them in the third person and it reads more like a legal document than it does the story of our relationship. Could this potentially be a problem for us?

Photos - do my fiancee and I need to include recent passport photos as well? Or was that just something for the old paper applications?

I'm sure I'll have some more questions before we hit submit this weekend. But this is all I can think of for now.

Thanks again, everyone, and I'm sorry to pepper the board with more of the same old questions.

Cheers.

My sister did one of our 888's and she provided a b&w certified copy of her passport. My brother did the other one and he only provided a clear colour scan of his passport (not certified). If they don't ask applicant and sponsor ID documents to be certified as long as they are clear colour scans then I don't see why they would ask it of people who fill out the 888's. (FYI this was sufficient for my husband's visa to be approved).

Can't imagine this being a problem.

You don't want it to sound like a shopping list. And you don't want to it to be too sentimental. My suggestion is have a happy middle. Talk about your relationship and how it developed (in the first person), mentioning any significant events that led to the progression of the relationship.

Passport photo is required of applicant, not sponsor.

That's perfect. Thanks for the reply, Tijanaoc. It helps put me a little more at ease.

You certainly are not going in blind, you have done months of in depth research.

Push the button!

Enjoy the upload stage.

Spend some time to explore after that first "recommended" page, to see the sections and sub sections you can upload.

* This is a section that a few screen shots could be very handy - maybe you could screen shot each blank page? But it is a bit of a stress time.

Best wishes.

Thanks, Aaron.

I've read probably every blog and checklist there is to read. I've studied the upload screen and it's layout. To be honest, I think I'm more ready for this than I was my high school exams. Haha.

Haha I felt the same! And I was a super nerd in high school...

We hit submit two weeks ago and we're almost done uploading and everything. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

Good luck to you both!

Thank you!

Honestly, we're hoping to upload everything the day we are allowed to. Given the extensive research we've done, I think it's entirely possible to do.

Having said that, the only thing we don't have done is my medical. But, to be proactive, as soon as we have the chance after submitting I will be booking an appointment and having it done.

I'm trying to be as optimistic and realistic at the same time. Fine line to walk, leaning more towards realistic though.

Yeah, my medical is done, and I've got my Canadian police clearance in the works, and next week I'll get the other two sorted. I might have to re-do some/all of them, but fingers crossed it works out!

Do you know how much your medical will cost?

All in my medical costs $280, I believe.
