SOS. Form 888 certified overseas
PMV application - Form 888
I have 2 witnesses (brother and cousin) that are Australian Citizens (and know our relationship from the very begining) but they live overseas (Greece).
I called the Australian Embassy there and they told me that every certified copy will cost 46 euros (i was shocked by the total amount they have to spent for this reason as they will need 4 doc certified in total  )
- Can somebody tell me if there is any other way for the form and copies to be witnessed and certified, and to be accepted by the Immigration department?
- As regards the proof of Australian citizenship can they just scan the originals and e-mail me their documents? or still they have to be certified?
- And just to make sure i understood right, at the number 7 of the form (last page) where it says "Before me,..." all these boxes (till the end) are for the details of the person that is witnessing and certifying the form and the copies?
Thank you very much for your help!
Only the signature needs to be certified as that of the person signing the form. No need to then get copies of that certified as well, that's just beating a dead horse.
It was my impression that anyone legally authorized to certify signatures in that country would be all you need. So in the US, it would be a notary. I don't see why you'd need to go to the embassy to certify a signature.
Color scans of the document (with signature certified) and proof of citizenship is all you need when applying online.
If you colour scan the 888's then they don't need to be certified, you only will need the signature witnessed (witnessimg is different to certifying). The witnessing of the signature the Australian embassy should do for free.
Hi all, just want a firm answer on this as I am in a similar situation and can't find any information on immi.gov about this: I am currently living in the U.S and about to submit documents for my husband's PR visa. Do we just get a notary to certify things like passport etc. here? Thanks in advance.
