Hello there

I am a new User to this Forum :) So glad I found it!

I am an Australian Citizen and am sponsering my English Fiance (not getting married in a hurry)

I want to know if anyone has any info on why an application might be refused? We have lodged an application and have been requested with further documentation like medicals, police reports, further supporting docs for our relationship. Just want to make sure we have all basis covered as I want to organise things before the timframe our CO has given us.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

The immigration department is there to assist people with hopefully successful immigration applications but that said, there was a report a couple of years ago that highlighted average rejections of the previous four years having been up around 160,000/y, a pretty huge number.

The main reason for rejection was quoted as being incomplete or incorrect applications, and I suppose you could take that to mean people were applying without meeting the eligibility criteria one way or another.

Whilst you will have individual immigration officers at some stage looking at applications on an individual basis and making an assessment of information presented, despite cultural differences that may impinge on interviews, the immigration regulations are legislated to ensure equality of process.

That said, if you have been careful with the application and used the checklist, you could just to reassure yourself further also review each of the eligibility sections for both sponsor and applicant to see that there is not anything that you did not include or cover in a complete manner.

I can only recall one thread on here in recent months where it seemed there may have been a problem in respect to a misquoting of time periods which reflected on whether a police report should be required or not and that sort of thing could get messy.

There have been a lot of queries re whether the 12 months relationship would be met and the qualifications for that are quite clear though evidence may vary, but have a scan back through the pages/time line sticky thread and you will find quite a few threads on successful outcomes.
