Leaving Australia on Visa Expiration Date

Dear All,

I am holding a Visitor (subclass 600) visa. I am arriving in Sydney on April 20, 2018 (05:10 local time) and leaving on April 24, 2018 (14:50 local time). My visa expiration date is also April 24, 2018. Now my question is, is my visa still valid the entire day of April 24? For those who have experienced this before, please reply. Thank you.

Hi Skybluebrewer,

Visa grant date - 24 April 2017
Visa expiry date - 24 April 2018
Entries allowed - Multiple entries to and from Australia during the validity of your visa
Must not arrive after - 24 April 2018
Period of stay - 01 months on each arrival

So then you technically have until 20 May to leave if you arrive on 20 Apr, which you can verify on VEVO when you enter and you see the expiry date of your stay.

Hi Skybluebrewer,

Yes, that's one possible scenario. I guess I'll just have to check VEVO after entering Australia.

Thank you.

That's the way stay periods and must not enter by dates work. You can enter the day before the must not enter date and still stay for the allotted stay period.

So yes, you can leave on the 24th.

Read it yourself on the immigration website.

"Visa expiry date:

For temporary visa holders only.

If you are:

outside Australia, this is the date your visa ends.

in Australia, this is the date the period of stay ends on your visa. You must leave Australia before midnight (AEST) on this date."

Also "Must not arrive after date:

You must enter Australia before this date – as long as you enter Australia before this date you are allowed to be in Australia for the stay period listed for your visa."
