Problem in name

Hello. I am applying for immigration as a skilled worker. I am preparing my documents to send to ACS. I am a Computer Science major.
My problem (if it is a problem) is that my name is written a bit differently (an additional space) in my passport and my other documents like my University Certificate.
On my passport: MUHAMMAD SHEHAB EDDEEN
On my other docs: MUHAMMAD SHEHABEDDEEN

I already changed my passport to make the First Name match, but (not surprisingly so) they forgot to also change my last name. They tell me I would have to pay again and do another application to change the name if I want it changed.

My question is, does that tiny space really matter and would it come between me and being accepted by ACS and afterwards by the immigration process?
Thanks a lot.

I would think it is going to be less a problem with ACS than what it could eventually be with immigration people though they may not see it as an issue.

What is on your birth certificate though as they could like to see the birth certificate and passport as being uniform and then if there are any other certificates that are different!

If you have a look at the skilled section of visas, you'll find a provision there to contact the department, either as pre-lodgement or post lodgement and I would strongly advise that you use an application form and the checklist to do your dummy run and make a list of all inconsistencies.

A nice typed up list with columns of
" Document Headings " " Who am I "

Birth Certificate GAP [hopefully]

Passport GAP

Certificate NO Gap

[I'm no secretary and the columns do not line up too well when the above shows but hopefully you get the idea]

And then attach that to your email requesting their advice.

An immi report a few years back detailed the number of immigration applications refused and it was like 160,000/y over a four year period, mainly because of incomplete applications or incorrect information.

With a skilled PR visa fee now $2425, if it costs you $500 to get every document corrected, I'd reckon it would be money well spent.

^ Keep us posted on how that goes for you, I'm curious.

I sort of have a similar problem in that my name at birth includes: my name, middle name, and both my parents last names (as in a hyphenate last name).

I however have NEVER used my full name. Not to register for pre-school, never on a passport, just my first and fathers last name.

Wonder what immi will say if anything? I'll let you know too...

To save you the effort of emailing immi MSD or at least to have further perspective, I had a phone discussion with a local immigration guy and essentially what he decribed the situation as being is as follows:

Name difference itself may not be a huge drama for the issue is more about being able to identify the person who is applying and see that no fraud is being attempted.
In that context they are aware that not every document name may be identical and whilst there should be some consistency in major documents like birth certificates and passports, immigration are aware that for whatever reason someone may have a name on a passport being a derivative of the name on their birth certificate and that like variations with other documentation may also occur
I would think that the ACS could have a similar line of thinking but as always, just a view and no guarantees - ACS may have a computer program that says Yes/No without review or a real dot the i and cross t detail hawk!

An email does not usually take too long to be answered and costs nothing whereas a resubmission could cost you.

Re immigration, you also should check latest situation:
