I've been googling for two days and found nothing "official" beyond what is in my visa grant packet, which is nothing more than what's in the partner migration book and on the immi site, which is the same as what you and Whitney said.

I would just expect more detailed laws/rules from a government body such as immi.

I guess I'll have to overcome my trust issues and go with what I know, and hope it's right.

It can absolutely awful how unclear they are about certain things, so I understand your frustration!

Found the actual laws at http://www.comlaw.gov.au/ and it really is as simple as it seems. Whew, now I can go to sleep and rest easy. Thanks all!
