You need to apply for citizenship by descent before you can apply for the passport. I went through the same process with my newborn.

You need to read the info on the website. It lists the steps... http://www.citizenship.gov.au/applyi...apply/descent/

I can't see on the embassy website if you need to apply in person. I applied in the US and I just mailed the citizenship by descent application along with the required documents. For the passport however you or your husband will need to apply in person. I believe you need to make an appointment for that. Also you need to have the citizenship by descent certificate before you can apply for the passport.

I don't know how long it is in the Philippines. You will need to call the embassy and ask. In the US it took about 3 weeks.

As long as you have the baby's birth certificate you can apply straight away. My son's birth cert took about six weeks to become available so it was a long wait before we could apply for the citizenship and then the passport.

Yes I am Filipina too.
