There must be something I can do!!

Hey everyone, I’m in desperate need of some help and advice. On the 10th of may I had an accident and unfortunately resulted into me breaking my humours bone (top half of my arm) in 4 places a rear break. It gets worse .. unfortunately I am 8 months into my first year sub417. The accident happened just as I was leaving my 6 month job to start my 88 days farm work 😞 I was hoping that I was able to apply for the Medical Visa but I’ve seen a read different things and all different answers even from the immigration office. At one point I was told I would be eligible to apply for it as I’m still under the hospitals care with consultants and will be for at least another 5 months. But then I’ve been I’m not eligible because I haven’t compleated my farm work yet, but that is the whole point I need the medical visa to existent my time here so I have a few more months to recover and to get my farm work compleated. It seem that there is is no strait forward answer to my problem. I’ve been incontact with privet visa solicitors and the only other advice they gave me was to get MARRIED!!! I have and Australian partner but I think to get marrie is very unessesery and not something I think we should have to do at this point in life just to stay in Australia.
This must of happened to you or someone you know, is there anyway around my massive problem?

Any help would really be appreciated 🙂

If a migration agent has already give you advice, I don't know that a forum can suggest something different. To qualify for a second 417 visa you must complete the regional work while holding the first 417 visa. And if you won't be able to do that, then I don't see any option for a second 417 visa. It sucks given your situation, but sometimes fate gets in the way of visa plans.

If you're in a relationship with an Australian partner and could qualify for a partner visa that could be an option. You don't need to be married, but you would need to be in a de facto relationship for at least 12 months before applying unless you register your relationship (still need to be in a de facto relationship but doesn't need to be a full 12 months).
