RRV question

Need help or information
My partner was granted the visa subclass 100 in 2006...in 2013 we traveled to his home island and stayed there till June 2018.
Apparently he didn't apply for the RRV because we were unaware of it. I am currently back home in Australia but he is still overseas.
Help !! what can we do?.can he apply for RRV from there or??
Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot. I was extremely worried because I read the home affairs website and it seems that his visa has expired in 2011..fingers and toes crossed everything goes well.
Once again thank you

Permanent visas are just that, permanent. Only the travel facility expires, hence what the RRV is for.

Why doesn’t anybody read their visa grant letters??? The RRV requirement is normally clearly displayed there.

I always advise my clients to PRINT OUT their visa grant letters, read them properly and keep them in a safe place.

It is very old-fashioned I know, but you simply cannot take in all this information properly on a “ smart” device and it can be difficult to find electrinic copies after a few years.

This issue causes so much unnecessary drama and expense.

Anyway, good luck with it. Those RRV applications can take a very long time at the moment.

It all depends on individual circumstances, but I have heard of cases taking many months now. If he meets the residency requirements it should, hopefully, be a matter of days or just a few weeks.

Currently my partner offshore. Can I apply for Rrv for him here in Australia?..
Is it a good idea to apply for visitors visa or will it affect his Rrv?

Many thanks
