300 to 820 - When did you change your name?

Quick question for those of you who have gone from the PMV 300 to the 820, if you changed your name, at what stage did you do so? I fully intend to take my partners name but it seems like quite a time consuming process to get everything changed over including my passport. We would like to apply for the 820 as soon as we can and I would like to focus on that as opposed to worrying about the name change and waiting for a new passport etc. However, will it go against our application if I haven't yet changed my name? Or if I choose to just use my married name socially, i.e. social media.

I'd love to hear from anyone who lodged their 820 with their maiden name. Thanks!

We lodged with maiden name.
We changed various other things earlier, bank accounts, insurance, etc.
We have uploaded various proofs for the 801 in both names.

We only did the name change with immigration once she renewed her passport, in the new name. That was 6 months after the 801 bit began.

I changed my name on everything but my passport and Immi account. I've left it with my old name until after the 801 is processed.

Not a partner visa, but I didn't change my name until I applied for citizenship, seemed like too much bother. I just started using my husband's name on everything else. The only hassle was remembering that I needed to book flights in my prior name (forgot once and had a bit of explaining and waiting at the airport for the airline to agree to let me on the plane).

Thanks! I didn't know if it was going to cause an issue for me to upload evidence for the 820 with both my maiden name and my married name. I guess they will put two and two together. Should I mention it in my statement at all?

Everything in Oz is under the married name. Have yet to change my passport though. I haven't had any issues with it either in the visa process or elsewhere. Just means when I need to show my passport for something, I need to show my Australian marriage certificate as well.

When I did Stage 1 and 2 for 820/801, I kept the application under my maiden name because that's what it is on my passport, to which the visa is tied to. I just listed my married name under other names I'm known by.

That'll probably be when I do it as well. Just seems easier that way (and cheaper than ordering two passports).

Oh yes, good idea in listing it under other names. I think that will be my plan also, to keep my maiden name on immi and my passport but I'll begin to switch things over and upload them into evidence as I would otherwise. Thanks

I didn't think it would be a problem but the whole process can make you second guess everything so thank you all for your input, it has put my mind at ease.
