Red face Prospective Marriage 300/Partner 309 questions

Hi everyone, thanks in advance for your help.

My partner and I are trying to figure out if we should apply for the 300 prospective marriage visa or the Partner 309 visa.

We love each other and would happily get married tomorrow. But just wondering if we're able to apply for a tourist/visitor visa while whatever visa we decide upon is being processed?

Either visa the 300 or the 309 appears to take ages to process. So myself (a Canadian) and my partner (Australian citizen) wonder how to go about applying for a tourist visa after? Is there a difference?

Is it easier to get a visitor/tourist visa if you have a partner visa or prospective marriage or do they care at all?

Any experience or help would be most welcome.

Thank you!

We applied for the 300PMV, did the medicals and police clearance, then applied for and got a 12 months stay Visitor visa.

Not everyone gets one, some people get 12 months with 3 month max stay each time, others get refused. I assume you just need to give a good reason.

Bottom line is you can apply, and you might get it.

Depending how long you have been together, you could do a visitor visa first, and then if you choose to stay together, apply for an onshore 820 visa.

Processing Times:
Subclass 300: 75% of applications done in under 15 months in February 2019
Subclass 309: 75% of applications done in under 14 months in February 2019

Hi JAndE,

Thank you for your information.

I'm thinking we will apply for the 300, seeing as I live in Canada and him in Adelaide.

I just have another question. What is your experience in terms of gathering documents for the application? Are screenshots of Facebook/Skype/email etc good? Copies of places we've been together and flight tickets etc? I'm not really sure what they're looking for. I guess I could screenshot 10 million pages of conversations lol.

This is what they're asking for:

lso provide other evidence of your relationship such as:

proof that you and your prospective spouse have met face-to-face as adults since turning 18 and know each other personally
proof (such as a letter from the person who will officiate at the wedding) that you will marry your prospective spouse within 9 months of being granted the visa
proof that you and your prospective spouse genuinely intend to live as spouses
written statements showing the history of your relationship, such as:
how, when and where you first met
how your relationship developed
when you became engaged
joint activities
significant events in the relationship
your future plans as spouses

If I am not mistaken PMV300 its if your are engaged, not yet married. Once married then you need to go for the 309, for defacto relationship or married.

Question

Hello everyone,

Iím happy I found this forum and reading everyoneís experiences and issues on their visas and thinking Iím not alone in this journey.

Iím from Philippines. I lodged my application last January 2, 2019.
Done with my medical: January 10, 2019
Police check and biometrics done & uploaded: January 22, 2019
I already uploaded heaps of requirements in the immiaccount without a notice of a case officer. And until now March 20, no case officer contacted us yet, is this normal?

And another is that my fianceís passport will be expiring on September but he already renew his passport and just received it today, so we can update his new passport details on my account and his, but the thing is that I cannot find where to upload or update his new passport details in my immiaccount and his account or do we both need to update it on our account?

Thank you for your advance help.
God bless everyone.
