40 SP - Length of Residence

Hello,

the 40SP form requires my sponsor (my wife) to provide evidence of citizenship and length of residence. We are both offshore and have been for a few years. Would her citizenship certificate (she was not born in Australia), and a colour scan of her passport suffice for this? I don't think she has access to things like old tax records.
If someone else could share what they uploaded that would be really helpful, thanks.

Kian

The citizenship certificate and passport should be sufficient. I hope you are using the online sponsorship form and not the old paper form 40 SP?

Thanks for the advice,

I was just using the paper version to work out some of the answers before doing the online one as we are not at that stage yet. Hopefully, we can just copy and paste the same info or just type it in. Thanks again.

There are some additional questions in the online form (sponsorís travel details for past ten years) while some of the questions on the paper form are absent from the online form.

Youíre better off copying and pasting from the saved online visa application form, as it is largely identical to the sponsor application form.

Thanks, Nick.

Much appreciated. I posted a different question earlier, and I see that you are a registered migration agent and perhaps you can help if you don't mind? I'm thinking about using a migration agent to do a read through of our docs when we are ready, but today the agent in question mentioned that we must make sure that our stat decs from witnesses include the words 'married' or 'de facto' when discussing our relationship. I was not aware of this, have gone back and checked them, and only 3 of the 6 actually use the term married/marriage. In your opinion, is this likely to mean that i'll need to get them amended?

Thanks,

Kian

Hi CCMS,

Thanks for your help. Just wondering, when you mean copying and pasting from the saved online visa application, do you mean my 47SP. As in the two forms are very similar to each other? Can't go beyond pag4 of SP40 until I pay the fee for the visa.

Once you have lodged form 47SP, print a PDF copy of the application. You can then use that to copy and paste many of the answers for form 40 SP online. You canít proceed with the sponsor form until you have lodged the visa application.

Thanks, CCMS.
Much appreciated. Do you know if the online 40 SP asks for both 'countries resided in for more than 12 months' and 'countries visited for less than 12 months?' As is the case with 47SP.
I'm not able to pay the fee right now so trying to work out what the more detailed questions are likely to be for the online version of 40 SP.

  • Has the sponsor lived in any country for more than 12 months cumulatively in the past 10 years? Last permanent address in this country.
  • Has the sponsor visited any countries in the past 10 years?
