Migration agent Rebecca Mason's trail of deception revealed [...] (article)

Beware of fraudulent migration agents like Ms Mason. My migration agent did not lodge on my behalf, as I paid for only advice and review, however if your agent lodges on your behalf, make sure you get a receipt for the lodgement and written confirmation from the agent. Any good agent would of course keep you in the loop.

I agree. As soon as the application has been lodged, the RMA should send confirmation in writing that the application has been lodged, a copy of the official acknowledgement letter and the VAC receipt.

I am always amazed when I am contacted by people who seem to have none of the above.

Donít be afraid to ask!

Clients should not have to.
Failing to provide such information breaches several clauses of ther Code of Conduct.

I know they don’t. But in that newspaper report people believed that their application had been lodged, but obviously had not received any confirmation.

So yes, you should not have to ask, but don’t be afraid to do so anyway, if you are not being kept informed properly.
