Yes. We had various things in the married name, before the stage 2, but could only change it with Immigration after getting the new passport in the new name.

The name in the passport appears to be the official name for visa purposes.

I am not sure what happens when it is for the offshore stage 1. It might depend on how long the person lived in that country after the Police check was issued?
Ah ok,

My partner called the Slovak Embassy and the Australian department home affairs and they both said she needs to do the police check in both the UK and Slovakia even though she hasn't been living in Those countries since we did them for stage 1 of the partner visa. Its a bit annoying especially the Slovak one as we need to go to Brisbane to sort that one out and post it off.

My wife had only gone back to Thailand for I think 60 days and they asked for another certificate from there I pushed back and they granted it without one.

Hi Just a couple more questions.

Tonight we lodged and uploaded our documents for stage 2 of the partner visa.

Silly question but while we now wait for the permanent stage 2 visa to be processed and approved, Does my partner need to now apply for a bridging visa? As we are going to New Zealand in November for a 2 week holiday. or do we need to let them know when we leave the country? Or will her Stage 1 partner visa continue as is until the stage 2 is processed?

One last question I just wanted to double check was should we complete a 1022 form and attached it to our stage 2 with my partners change of name even though her passport is still in her maiden name and this is what her name is on her current visa, It is just all other documents like drivers licence and our Mortgage in her married name. Or should we wait until she gets a new passport next year with her new married name?
We did attach our marriage certificate.

Thanks again for clearing things up.

Regards,
Daniel

We didn't do a change of name until after the name on the passport was changed.

We had supplied Bank statements etc., in her married name, but assumed they understood that, due to the marriage certificate.

We notified them immediately about the passport name change so that the visa was the same name as the passport.
