Return Resident Visa

I'm a British citizen currently hold a Permanent residency visa SubClass 189, which is due to expire 18th June 2019. I recently relocated to Australia (26th April 2019) using this visa and there are 3 other dependents under the same visa who will be joining me mid-September.

I would like to understand the possibilities of getting all four's visa extended at the same time.
– For how long can the new visa can get extended for?
– will this have an impact on getting my Australian citizenship after 4-5years living in Australia?

Other evidence I got is
– Contract Job offer until the end of August
– Started a New business and a have a valid ABN number for future contracting
– house lease agreement for the next 12 months
– Kids school separating letter from the UK
– Car shipping evidence from Uk to Australia

hope the above information is sufficient to understand my situation and give me guidance on this.

You need to get some professional advice on this fairly quickly as, presumably, your dependents’ visas also expire on 18th June, so you need a plan for them if you want them to be offshore until September.

To answer your question - you don’t extend your visa, you need to apply for a new Resident Return Visa (RRV). If granted it will have a 1 year travel validity. It’s probably a bit early to be planning citizenship, as a lot of things may change going forward.

As Paul has said, the visa doesn't expire just the travel/entry rights on it do. So after June 18th your dependents will not be able to enter Australia on their 189 so they'd need a RRV to do so. If they don't have at least 2 years residency in Australia during the 5 years before applying for the RRV, they need to show strong ties to Australia - you may qualify as being that "strong tie" but it's not guaranteed so getting some professional advice would be a good idea. Your dependents can't arrive before June 18th?

I suggest you take Paul's advice on board. He has a very thorough understanding of RRV's.
