Hi all got the email i was waiting for today 12month sponsored tourist visa for my wife. What happens now if the partner visa 309 is about to be granted before we enter Australia? does it overide the tourist visa?

You can't be granted a 309 visa while in Australia. You need to notify DHA via your Immi advising that you intend to travel to Australia between xx dates. I think there is a specific form but a search of the forum will find the process.

When the grant is imminent DHA will advise the Applicant to depart Australia. You don't need to travel back to your home country - you can travel to for example New Zealand and wait the few days / hours until the grant is issued.

You return to Australia by the due date on the 309 visa.

Good luck!

Thanks, my question was if the 309 was granted before the we enter Australia. Our departure from Greece is August 20, so if the 309 was ready next month June lets say, does it overide the visitor visa?

Do we need to inform AHC that we are on a tourist visa in Australia whislt a 309 is processing, don't they get to know that we are in the country.

I am currently in Australia on a toursit visa and I have a 309 processing but I haven't updated IMMI with the those details. Do i need to do that?

Thank you!

Your arrivals and departures are automatically recorded.
There have been cases where delegates did not check the whereabouts of applicants and granted visas to applicants who were in the wrong place.
It is a good idea to upload the particulars of your comings and goings.

Thanks Heaps for your response @wrussell!

I have uploaded a copy of the visa and return ticket back to home country in evidence section of my 309 application, is this sufficient or does it need to be captured in a particular place?

Once again thanks heaps!

Change of address - If you intend to change your residential address for more than 14days while your application is being processed, you must tell the Department of Home Affairs (the Department) your new address prior to moving.

https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/form.../forms/929.pdf

There has been discussion on this forum relating to "change of address". I think it has generally been accepted that for 309 Applicants they should complete the form and submit when visiting Australia on a 600 visa. It is a very simple form and you email to the address on the form. I would also upload to your Immi.

Cheers
