Hi all,

This post might be a bit different w other but would appreciate if someone shares your thought or experience!
Will it be possible to apply single entry visitor visor ( 600) while multiple entry visa ( 600) is still active? I just prefer to have a visa with shorter length of stay while the current one is the 6-month length of stay and will expire only in 2020.
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you're wanting a bridging visa to kick in sooner rather than later?

If that's the case, keep in mind that it would go into effect when the stay period ends (so as you posted, six months) and not when the visa actually expires.

It seems to be it'd be obvious that you're probably applying for another one to get a shorter stay period and apply for a visa onshore, and so with that comes what I would think is a higher chance at getting a visitor visa with the NFS condition that would prevent an onshore application for another visa completely.

thanks for a prompt reply to both Gendee28 and Skybluebrewer!(ps- as i am a newbie here and bear with me if my reply or question needs more clarification). @Skyebluebrewer, Yes, I want to kick bridging visa sooner.
My case :
I apply visitor 600 tourist stream offshore. I am now in Australia ,fyi. As I have to leave Australia for work reason , I applied for multiple entry visa and overlooked the fact that it could be 6-months length of stay.
Multiple entry visa was granted with visa expire in next 11 month and length of stay as 6 months for each entry. It has conditions for no work and no study for more than 3 months (8201 and 8101) only. If it is a 3-month visa, I can wait 3 months without working. But as now it is 6 month, seem that I have to do nothing for 6 months and worst is I could not leave Australia for whole 6 months so that bridging visa to be effective.
As I intend to apply for partner visa 820/801 , a 3-month stay is better for me. I surfed the website and forum. It seems that I could do nothing with the current visa. But wondering will it be possible to apply another 600 visitor (tourist stream) visa off shore while current one is active??? Will it be too risky as the current one did not state about 'no further stay ' condition?
- Saw one thread stating about the length of stay (but different with my situation), that person says in one of his thread that he called Immigration Dept and was told that he could try applying for another visa and if a new visa is not granted, existing one is not affected. however, I don't see the outcome of that thread and that guy seem to applt offshore partner visa. So, I could not refer that case.
Any inputs or thoughts are welcome!
option 1) Leave Australia( I have to leave in few weeks because of work commitment) enter 2nd time, just accept 6 months length of stay ( which I am not keen to )
option 2) leave Australia ( I have to leave in few weeks because of work commitment) , apply for another 600 visas with a single entry.

tks,
Cristal

What relationship status have you informed the Department on your last Visitor Visa application?

It is correct that if you apply for another Visitor Visa and it is refused your current one is not affected.

Option two is very risky.

There are other options but effectiveness depends on what you have informed the Department.

I have informed as husband and wife in the previous visits ( we were married in Australia) though I happened to stay most of the time outside Australia due to work commitment and decide I should go for 820 this time. I agree to option 2 might be risky, in that case, seem that I should accept the current condition. Meanwhile, I am interested in other option? Pls note I will apply 600 offshore. Thanks!

It is very good that married was declared.

I would be looking at a 600 onshore application (one month) but this has a risk of a NFS condition also - I recall that a RMA in the past has successfully had a very short stay Visitor Visa granted (days or weeks), but do not remember the exact circumstances.

If you apply offshore, they could grant a short stay visa taking into account your periods of stay in Australia in the last 18 months - this could be problematic with the proposed changes to sponsors approval.

I assume you have ruled out ETA's and WHV's as options + that you can apply for a BVB to travel even before the BVA is active to allow you to travel.

What passport do you hold?
