801 visa - can i sponsor someone else

Hello. I was sponsored (im from the UK) by my Australian girlfriend at the time, it was granted mar 2016. we have since split up and I now have a new girlfriend. also from the UK. I am still on a 801 (perm partner visa) and am wanting to sponsor my new defacto girlfriend, is this possible while still on a 801 partner visa with my ex or will I have to somehow apply for PR in my own right and then sponsor her?

help needed asap as my new girlfriends visa expires august

Thanks

You will be affected by a sponsorship limitation until 5 years after your partner application was lodged.

If you have been granted a sc. 801 visa, then you are a permanent resident in your own right.

The sponsorship limitation is 5 years from the date the original sc. 820/801 visa( that you were sponsored on) was lodged.

thank you. thats a massive help. the original application was lodged September 2012. my partner was previous sponsored too, for a short while. before her relationship broke down. application lodged 24 august 2015. but this visa was ended, when the relationship broke down and she returned back to the UK within the 28 days period (she stayed an extra 7 days - authorized by the immi staff at the perth office)

she has returned on a tourist visa... and we are now looking to apply for partner sponsorship August 6th ( we have been together a year from 20 July 2019)

Thanks
