So what im offering is just help to run through grammar/ spelling, etc. I would be surprised if any help offered on that context is considered illegal.

Agreed though that an MARA agent should be consulted on the content, etc of the statement.

I take it your RMA doesn’t mind you apply their advice to a third party?

Other than that, are you qualified to “ check” someone else’s application and personal statements ?

That’s not what you said originally. I was not questioning if it was legal or not. I was just wondering if you were qualified to advise the OP on his statement.

Can’t see an issue with a grammar/ spell check, but I think the OP would be better off writing the statement in his native language and then getting it translated, rather than getting it edited by a third party.

It’s a bit like advising someone on their tax return, based on the advice you received for yours.

It's unbelievable how blatant some of the MARA's are about protecting their business, even though they state they don't. The whole spirit of a forum such as this is for others to help, and over the past 5 years I've seen detailed advice given out. I think it's very honorable if you are offering to assist someone. The liability is with the person accepting the advice, like most things in life.

As per it being illegal, I highly doubt DHA has the time, resources or inclination to even consider investigating and/or prosecuting anyone, especially given that most are overseas, where they have no jurisdiction. This forum for example is Canadian owned.

I'm not a registered migration agent, and neither are a lot of people on the forum who strongly caution people about taking advice from people whose only experience is their own particular application history. Even though I migrated through the 457-186 process, I am very cautious giving people information since their situation may be vastly different than mine, and of course the migration rules have changed significantly since I applied.

If you ask any MARA agent, they will all tell of clients who've come to them for help to rescue botched DIY applications, so of course they do the right thing and recommend that people get professional advice.

Yes the forum is here to help people and many people benefit from that advice, but that doesn't minimize the value of getting professional guidance as well.

There is no such thing as a “MARA”. We are called Registered Migration Agents (RMAs).

I made it clear that I am not interested in assisting with DIY applications, so it is not about “ protecting my business”.

I have explained clearly what I thought was the best solution for the OP and also why I don’t think it is a good idea for an unqualified third party to provide assistance on the basis of the advice they received for their own application.

If you want to read anything else into it, then that’s your business.

So looking at some of your 5000+ posts, would they not be considered advice. If you now live in Australia would you not be at risk of breaking the law?

Sorry RMA....
I'm only reading what is written or implied. This is a public forum clear for all to see.

Talk about it. Not to sound too dramatic, but it's come to a point where humanity is compromised for money.

I'm seeing it more and more in all walks of life, but it has become more evident here also.
