Fingerprints for sponsor Spousal Visa Living in the US

Hello all. So we are trying to get a grip on what we need for the application. We wont get anything done before time. However has anyone living in the US obtained fingerprints from the US for their Australian Federal Police check? I'm a bit confused as to how I get them, what the process is.

Thanks in advance.

The AFP check doesn't require fingerprints.

Really? I have a friend who is currently doing the 309 (what I will be doing) but he's in Asia, not the US,and he had to get fingerprints for the AFP background check.

Then your friend is doing things wrong. Doesn't matter where you are or what country you are from.
ONLY go through the AFP site and make sure when you do it you select the immigration check which is 33 off memory

Personally I go off the information provided by immigration. I did not get fingerprints done for my AFP and had my visa granted with no issues.

"Apply for a police certificate

See how to apply for a police certificate in the relevant countries.

To get a police certificate in Australia you must submit an Australian Federal Police National Police Check application form.

Use Code 33 at Question 1 on the form and include details of all names you have been known by.

We do not accept state- or territory-issued Australian police certificates.

Fingerprints are not needed for Australian police checks.

My sponsor and I both live in the US. From memory, we didn’t have to provide APF with fingerprints - it was all done online. For fingerprints, they were required by the FBI and states here for their checks. We were able to go to a channelers office and get prints and paperwork for checks off, they came via email in a matter of days. Too easy!
