Marriage breakdown and PR status

i have been granted Permanent Resident Status and am now admitting to myself that even though i am married, we do not have a marriage. Nobody is mad at anyone and there has been no cheating. There are no children of this marriage.

If we decide to separate and possibly divorce, will this affect my status ?

i very much want to stay in Australia.

Mike

No, unless the minister forms the view that your spousal relationship had ended before PR was granted. There are some people who have nothing better to do than 'dob in' others to immigration. A post-grant dob in is unlikely to be acted upon, but the less publicity the better.
