Hello Razia and welcome to the forum

I myself have never had anything to do with Australia's refugee program and you are the very first one that has ever posted on the forum.
It is not that I am unaware of the circumstances facing refugees the world over for there are many in the most unfortunate and often harsh conditions and I am aware that our government has agencies that do work in the area of refugee settlement in conjunction with the United Nations.

I have just had a quick look at what information is on the immigration web site, Who is Eligible? and there's some reading for me to do there in the next day or so.

At first look it would seem you are eligible for the Special Humanitarian Program [SHP] but the numbers there indicate wait times could be long.
It also says people need a sponsor and so the first question to be asked is have you been able to register through an Australian organisation in Pakistan?

If you have and have a registration number and wish to PM me the organisation and your registration details I'll see what information I can find out from their offices here in Australia.

Meanwhile I hope you can be as safe and well as possible.

Hi wanderer:
Thank you for reply me, u know at the frist time i sent my application to Australia direct , but they sent me back, they asked me to take help from nearest Australia Embassy for sponser, then i called Austarlia embassy and told them i have no any one living in Austaralia, and they said for refugee visa subclass 200 sponser is not reqiured.so i again sent my application to Australia Embassy in Islamabad. then my case office send me mail after 10 days ,said my application has been transferd to dubai and it will be process there, 6-8-2009 i recived an acknowledgment letter with my file number from dubai, when i ask about my application status, they said its under assessment and they will contact me if any other documents is required, so its now near about 3 months, its still in initial assessment, so i just want to know how long will be get for initial assessment, i just want to know am i eligible or not.
Lot of thatnks and best regard!!

Humanitarian and Refugee (class XB)

Hi,

Im an Afghan national currently living in Quetta Pakistan, due to security concern i quited the country and not able to return back, i have applied for PV in Australian Consulate General Dubai U.A.E, I have submitted all the related documents (certified copies) along with XB form to Consulate general, Yet I have been given a file number only by the immigration within a month, the situation here in Quetta is worst, Neither i can move back to my home land nor can risk to stay here,
so
Plz can someone assist me that what does file number mean to me and how long will it take for the process, an auto response email from the immigration shows that Humanitarian and Refugee visas take 9-12 months already there are thousands of applications pending in immigration and the priority is given to those coming by boats so what will happen to those really in need but can't pay the smugglers that much amount to risk their lifes and come through leakage boats, im really in dire need of protection but can't pay that much amount to come through,
What will be the next step by the immigration, do they give priority to individual applications based on their circumstances,

BR
Kezeem
