Fingerprint/Background checks USA

Hello all, so I know I get a fingerprint check through the FBI, but do I need state level checks? I have seen that some were asked for more evidence than just the FBI check? Slightly confused as it seems the Aussie national check does both state, and federal checks.

Yes, you need to provide a state check in addition to the FBI check, for any state you’ve lived in the last 12 months. If your sponsor is in the US, they have to supply the same.

We only provided the FBI check and that was sufficient. I have not seen any requirement for state checks anywhere.

United States of America
US citizens and permanent residents: 'FBI Identity History Summary' issued by the FBI or an approved channeler and a State Police Clearance for each State in which you have lived for at least 3 months for the last 12 months.

I believe it may be different for US residents. Our channeler told us that the state checks update in real-time, and there’s a bit of a delay in the FBI checks updating, which is why both are required.

Thank you for the reply! Do I need to provide a hard copy of the prints to immigration, or are they sent to me and I scan/upload them to my immi account?
