175 and 573 application at the same time

I submitted a 175 visa application on july 2009. This application has not been finished. Now I want to create a new 573 visa application because I have been accepted by an australian university. I know that it is possible, but I dont know if I have to notify DIAC about this and how should I do this notification.

Thank you in advance

I have seen a report of communication back from immi in a similar case where immi advised that you can apply for more than one visa which has always been the case but they did say their e lodgement system would take only one application at a time.

So if the 175 was an eVisa application, you would it seems have to do the 573 as a paper one.
Immi as far as I know do not need to be advised re separate applications and your 175 application would stay in the system to be eventually processed if that is what you want.
You may also find that the 573 application form has a section which asks of other visas held/applied for or rejected etc. and so it could well be that the 175 gets mentioned there.

But to be 100% sure, if in Australia just give immi a ring on 131881 or if outside, there is a visa enquiry service available under "contact" you'll see in header bar at right.

No point in withdrawing the 175 application for you'll not I'd expect get your application fee back.

Hello All,

I have done my B.E. in Electronics and Communication from University of Delhi in First Class with Distinction and have a 4.8 years of experience in circuit designing till date. I have checked my eligibility for visa 175 for both current and new points based system and found to be eligible for both.

I have also got an admission in a 16 month AGSM MBA program in Australian School of Business (CRICOS recognized), University of New South Wales, Sydney, commencing from January 2012. So, would be requiring visa 573 to study there.

I want to apply for visa 173 as I am aware it significantly increases my chance of securing a job in Australia post MBA. However, I have come across the fact on DIAC website that a minimum of 2 years (equivalent to 92 weeks) of Australian Study is necessary to be eligible for PR visa, if I want to apply for it while in Australia post MBA. Unfortunately, my 16 month MBA (equivalent to 78 weeks, as confirmed by CRICOS website) would not be helping me out in this case. Therefore, I have to apply PR visa from India only.

I have the following querries :

1) Can I apply for both the visas (175 and 573 simultaneously)? If not, please suggest a suitable methodology for my case mentioned above.

2) After studying in an Australian institution, if I file PR visa while in Australia, is it mandatory to show 2 years study requirement or can I file the visa based on my experience in India or any other workaround?

Thanks for a prompt reply.

Re two applications, take notr of my comment re electronic lodgement limitations and that is something you can check by an email enquiry to Immi.
An onshore skilled visa application has studying requirements as the basis for eligibility as you would seem to have already read about given your comment on 92 weeks needed.
