801 visa questions

Hi guys.
I’m eligible for my 801 PR Visa form December this year. Around the same dates I’m planning on going back to Scotland for a holiday for Christmas.
My questions are:

- Would I be able to wait until I return to Australia before I attach my supporting documents for 801, How long do I have after the 2 year mark to apply for 801?

- Do I need to inform immi of my travel since I will be eligible for the 801 at this stage? or will it not matter as I’ve not attached my documents yet?

Thanks anyone for your help!!
