Not everyone applies for citizenship so it is a personal choice if they apply. Some countries do not allow dual citizenship so people fr those countries may not want to give up their birth citizenship.

Is it possible, permissible to start the online Citizenship application process online some months in advance of the eligibility date and hold it there for posting on the eligibility date?

Hi. I applied citizenship by conferral (online) on 20th of July, 2019 and received an email 3 weeks ago confirming my date of interview and citizenship exam early next year. Although in my immi account, my application status is still “received”

Congratulations for the test appointment so quickly.

I did my test and still status shows as "received". That status will only change when the application is APPROVED. it will change to "Approved". The approval does not happened untill you sit for the test and pass. It is up to them when they approve after your test. I know people did the test back in June 2018 and still not approved. Do the test and then see your luck.

I would like to know if i need to wait 12 months as a permanent visa holder for apply for citizenship ? do you apply in your immiaccount?

Also in this 12 months time, if i divorce (i am married to my sponsor) would that affect my permanent visa ?
