Help!! 189/190 Skilled Visa for Specialist Doctor

Hi Friends,

I am a specialist doctor and need some guidance on 189 or 190 visa application.

I completed my specialty training from India and applied to AMC & RACP for assessment of my training/education. RACP found me fully comparable to an Australian trained specialist and after completing 12 months of peer-review practice, I got my specialist registration.

Now I want to apply for 189/190 visa. I want to claim points for my previous work experience in medicine & the specialty field. I checked Govt immi website and it says assessing authority is Medical Board of Australia. But on Medical board website, there is no mention that they will assess the previous work experience for points in immigration. I have called them also and they confirmed that they do not assess previous experience.

Please help with the below:
1) How to get points assessed for the previous work experience
2) Do I need to get around 80 points to get the invitation, or is it less for a doctor (as very few people apply in my occupation)

Any help would be highly valued. Thanks!!

Any of the registered migration agents who post on this forum would be able to assess your work experience documents and give you a considered opinion.

Hi Westly, thanks for the response.

But I have already talked to a few MARA agents and all of them seems to have given different points for experience.
1. One confirmed that all full-time paid work (including internship) gained after MBBS degree will be considered for employment points
2. Other confirmed that everything after internship will be considered
3. A third one confirmed that all experience gained after getting admitted into specialist training will be considered.
4. And finally one confirmed that only the experience gained after completing the specificity training and can be considered.

All of them are MARA agents.
So just wondering if there is any govt assessing authority which can assess my experience and confirm exact points, so as not to claim excess points in EOI and have issues later. Thanks!

No, and in any case work experience opinions of assessing authorities are only advisory and are not binding on DoHA delegates.

Step 1. Examine the patient!

or in your case, review the employment certifications. A telephone conversation is not a sound basis for offering advice and you might be barking up the wrong tree, points might not be an issue.

Hi VJ 1... Sorry I am not able to give you opinion about visa 189 as I am going through a different visa sub class. I was just trying to get some info regarding RACP assessment. How long did it take for the assessment to be done?Did you do the 12 month of peer review practice in Australia? What visa class were you in? Thank you very much.

As per my understanding, all full-time paid work (including internship) gained after MBBS degree will be considered for employment points.
