Question Parent Visa Refund on Immiaccount

Hi guys, I just want to seek some help if I can.

I made a pre-payment for my parent visa online through immiaccount. However, after that, I found I entered the wrong information for it. Should have put the main applicant's name which is my father's instead of my own on it.So I just lodged a refund of it. Then it's shown as "Refund Requested" for a week without any change.

Just wondering if anyone has the same experience as I do, and how long does it take for you guys to get the money back? I tried to call the inquiry line, but they told me there is no processing time for the refund. Don't know what to do with it now. Not so sure if I can get the money back or not.

Please help guys. Thanks a lot for it!

It can take months.

Hi Mate, thanks for your reply. Did you experience the same thing as I do? Is it OK if I make the second payment and lodge the application ASAP without affecting the current refund? Hopefully, they will return my money back instead of just take two payments.

Or you could apply 3 or 4 times and never get your money back.

Maybe consult a professional to at least be sure you get the basics of the application correct.

P.s the other poster is a Registered Migration Agent - I will guess that he will say refunds are rare and take a very long time to process if they are given.

But just a guess.

Good guess!

Refunds are only available in very specific circumstances and can take a long time to process.

There is not enough information to be definitive in this specific case, but if it was a pre-payment for an application that has not been lodged, then that should be refunded if requested.

Refunds are managed by the Department of Finance and sometimes take ages.
You might have been better off correcting the name of the visa applicant.
