Arrow 189 New Zealand Stream

Hi Everyone,

I am a new user and I am currently in the process of preparing for my Subclass 189 New Zealand Stream visa application. I have added my wife and son,who currently live in Indonesia.

We are yet to lodge as we are still completeing our Form 80's (what a headache) I was wondering if anyone has been through the same situation in reference to adding a partner from high risk Countries and what your outcome was?

Are there any success stories or information you can provide me regarding wait times?

I would love some replies as I really cannot find many forums surrounding the NZ Stream 189 visa.

Thanks everyone, best wishes!

Hi Andrew! I don't have any info about high risk country applications, but I can share my own experience. I applied for my kiwi husband and I as soon as my 461 was granted. What I should've done was apply earlier, even though I was on a bridging waiting for the 461 to go through (which took 2.5 years from what was supposed to be 6-8 mths!). I didn't know multiple visa applications were allowed concurrently.

Anyway I also gathered all my documents (including filling in the form 80s etc) before lodging the application. What I realised after lodging was that I could go in to the immiaccount and upload the docs AFTER I had lodged, because let's face it, they're not even going to look at the applications for weeks (if you're lucky), or months (more likely). So from the time you hit apply to the time they look at it, I'd say you have more than enough time to get the required docs, fill in tedious form 80s, and upload as you wait. I recommend getting yourself an immiaccount now, start the application. The application itself is 19 pages long, and you can fill how ever many pages you can and then save and log in at a later date to continue it. After you've sent the application, you can go and finish your form 80, go order your police clearances etc etc as you go.

I applied 31st Oct last year. I had most of my stuff from my previous application, but the docs I didn't yet have, I uploaded a letter explaining that I would upload them soon (only because they didn't let me press Send if that field was empty with no uploads). So because police certs and medicals only last 12 months (NZ cert only lasts 6, but those are free so if it expires you can just get another one when asked), I wasn't going to send them in then and have them expire should the processing take longer than a year, esp medicals which are expensive. So I've just sent the police certs in now, 3 months after application, and our medicals are tmrw.

To summarize, complete the 19 page application and pay the 20% and press send. Then immediately get on with finishing your Form 80s (I guess it'll take a few days to get all the info you need), and gathering the rest of your docs and upload as you go. Because when they give you a processing time frame, it starts from the day you hit send. Not from the day everything is uploaded. Hope this helps!
